Dog Training
Wendy Shaw is a renowned dog trainer and behaviorist with over 13 years of extensive experience. She teaches public classes at My Dog's Daycare She also provides private training in your home. She also offers "board and train" (doggy boot camp). Her specialties are dog psychology and aggression. She is very well known for assisting owners with dogs deemed untrainable. Wendy believes in mental and physical exercise, discipline, and then affection! Wendy's methods are based on dog psychology using your dogs natural instincts and language to train them in a safe and highly effective way. Wendy is a Certified AKC canine good citizen evaluator and she Graduated CTK-9 on June 27th 2003 with an 88% grade average. She has earned AKC agility titles and ribbons with her sheltie Cougar. She attended a seminar on handling and adopting pitbulls in municipal facilities. She has participated in Biting Dog Conferences and Off Lead Training Expos. She has also attended seminars with Cesar Millan, Sue Sternberg, Wendy and Jack Volhard, GaryWilkes, and more!
Schedule of Classes and Workshops Freshman Class (puppies under 6 months) The goal of the Freshman class is to build a strong bond that will last your entire relationship with your dog. The class concentrates on learning dog psychology so your puppy will respect humans as the ones in charge. In class, your puppy will socialize with both other puppies and people. We will do exercises to help build your puppies confidence with new situations as well as start to learn the basics such as walking properly on a leash, sitting down, and coming when called. You will also learn how to correct your puppy and deal with common puppy issues such as housebreaking and teething.

Sophomore Class (dogs over 6 months) The goal of the Sophomore class is to gain control of your dog. You will learn dog psychology, how to correct, basic commands (sit, down, stay, wait, come, walking on leash). We work on behavior issues such as jumping, barking, etc. Basic commands are practiced with distractions to help perfect the command. The main goal of Sophomore class is to give you the tools needed to enjoy life with your dog!
First Class • Starts Thursday, March 25th, 2010 • Class is 4 weeks held each Thursday. Graduation is April 15th, 2010. • Class is held 7:15 p.m. - 8:45 p.m. • 100% attendance a must. Make up classes are no longer available. • Cost is $160 • Class held at My Dog's Daycare, 18 Sandscreen Road, Avon, CT, 860-673-3776

Private training in your home Need help with your puppy or dog? Private sessions give you real life training in your home.
$75/hour or $350 for 6 sessions (each session is 1.5 - 2 hours) Sessions can be spaced out anyway you would like. Most people do once a week for 3 weeks then space out there last three as needed. Sessions never expire! E-mail or call to schedule.
Pack Walk Sundays Want to enjoy a walk with other dog people? Every Sunday, weather permitting, we meet at PackTracks in Unionville at 1pm. We meet at 1 p.m. and go for a controlled, leashed pack walk! This is a great opportunity to socialize with other dog people and have a great time! E-mail us to get on the updates list. This is a complimentary service brought to you by Pack Tracks, Inc. You do not need to inform us if you are coming, just come when you can!
Treadmill training by appointment is also available for $25 (within 10 miles of PackTracks). Contact us to schedule. This service is no longer available in our store, but we can make arrangements for treadmill training in Farmington. We also train in your home if you have a treadmill.
